runnin on no sleep

How do you get your baby to sleep at night? Jack eats every 2-3 hours even at night, sometimes every hour and a half. He wakes up hungry so I don't want to let him cry and not eat. The doctor said he's a big baby so expect him to eat A LOT! But 2-3 hour every night, its fine throught the day, but at night! I swear he's killin me here.

I dont mind getting up and feeding him, but then he can be up for an extra hour or two after he finishes. How do you get him to go back down right away? Im so exhausted, just one night where I could sleep for 6 consecutive hours would be a dream come true! He gets a full feeding to, he eats at least 5 onzes in a feeding, i feel like a dairy cow here. Whats a cow to do?

Hey Jen, I know it seems really hard right now but it won't be long before it works itself all out.

hey, this is what worked for me, or Brody I guess I should say.
I was nursing exclusively, and once I started adding a bottle of formula for the the last feeding before midnight, and as soon as hes done, don't talk to him just place him right in his bed. I know giving that first bottle can be hard, but it worked for me. Good luck, and ditto what Ange said. "this too shall pass"
    I swear it will/does!

The first three months are a hard adjustment for both of you. I would do what Leah said. My babies were formula babies off the bat so I would put a teaspoon of paplum in their bottle and that seemed to work. It does get easier. After 3 months it's a piece of cake.

Ditto to Ange, these things work themselves out.One morning you'll wake up with really full boobs and you'll be like "WHAT?It's morning?! he slept through!?! HAL-LE-LU-JAH!"

thanx for the advise ya'll! Apparantly I was'nt making enough milk for my gigantic baby, so the doc tor put me on domperidone and what da ya know, he's much more satisfied! I tried mixing half & half formula and breast milk with his last bottle of the night. He sleeps for an extra hour-hour and a half, Oh yeah, its great!
